"Previously my poetry has appeared in Entelechy International, The Alembic, Phase and Cycle, Inside English, and the anthology Active Voices IV. In 2005 I received a Tomales Bay Fellowship in poetry, and this year I was awarded a Fishtrap Fellowship. I've taught English at Riverside Community College for fourteen years."

Before Dawn, Tomales Bay |
Night wrapped in fog. Blurred trees. My wet footsteps.
An incline ahead.
Something gray, cat-sized
from under a bush . . . across the road
into the dark box of landscape.
Leaves rustle, stop. Other life, soundless,
goes on. I tense, try my eyes again
against the night.
