Night Driving

I always feel lonely driving into the city
At night, hypnotized by the lights.
Even after I get home it lingers in
the smooth strangeness of my home.

And before the spell is broken
by a microwave ping or ringing phone.
I could just grab my keys and go again,
gliding silently down some slip road.
