Prisoners of War |
Prisoners of war
Under Sun god’s
And Aztec warriors
Loser gets decapitated
Ball crossing over dreams
Dreams shooting into hope
Upside down shopping carts
Five feet of concrete
Dirty driveways
Burned down houses, abandoned
Broken glass, used condemns on the curb
Skid marks, potholes, dirty water puddles
7-year-olds; three-on-three
The ball into a black hole
A cancer of negativity’s bone marrow
Trapped inside chain link fences
Pavement and graffiti language
Drugs making love to their addicts
Gang bangers compliment ex-cons
Teenagers drop outs
Park lights are turned off
Black, ball plays music
Finger tips breathe concrete symphony
Bodies contort, faces tighten
Sweat and air
Pierced with war cries
Dogs bark, bullets scatter, stomachs growl
Tears of lost children flood the streets
Sanctuary
Place of worship
Where has been's become legend
Lost boys and fathers that never were
Oppression struggle Art
Calloused hands paint beauty into moonlit skies
Just ghetto heartbeats, peach baskets and rubber balls
Prisoners of forgotten wars
Winner... winner gets to dream
