Evolution |
We have come full circle:
First friends, then lovers,
now back to short sentences,
shorter kisses.
When you paused at the edge
of the artificial pond,
Japanese goldfish congregated like secrets
around your feet.
Even when I waggled my fingers
near the surface,
they avoided me. Perhaps only animals
can read you.
We communicate in grunts and clicks,
kick stones
as we wait for a bus.
You look away as I absently pluck
bits of dandelion fluff
from your hair.
