Late summer
cautiously weaves
its quietude.
The artist brushes away
one-legged gulls
which imploringly crook
their fragile necks
She photographs
the glimmer
of an oil streak
which boasts
its pink and violet
blue and green
to the stars of the sea.
The Southern Cross
has begun to stretch
across the night sky.
