For Daniel McGinn
In the morning
I receive a message from Daniel
from Los Angeles.
He is newly a master of poetry
and has left his wallet
at the Burlington airport.
He was heading home
diploma in hand
fresh supply of one dollar bills
left behind.
There will be no
summit of Los Angeles poets
in Vermont.
I will look for your wallet, Daniel.
Everywhere.
Today we are going to
the Ethan Allan Homestead
and a chocolate factory.
If I were your wallet,
that's where I would go.
Sorry we missed you.
