shoe shopping while the world rises and crumbles around us |
After a decade of driving
through the streets of LA
corners like Normandie
and Slauson depress my
soul, and places like Rodeo
Drive and Wilshire
fill it with cynicism.
What does it mean to be
an Angelino? Only few realize
there is no such thing as an
Angelino and yet, everyday
more and more people become
obsessed with achieving this
concept of self-realization.
It’s clear any action that
entails driving anywhere
for 45 minutes, and then
driving 45 minutes more
to get back home is not
an easy task, but it’s not a
meaningful one either.
It takes a great deal of
love to endure the cynicism
and depression that comes
from living in a city full of
traffic, high rents, smog and
crowded beaches. Most of this
strength I draw from my wife,
so you can imagine then
just how grateful I am
of this bond we have and
hold, so much so, I go
shoe shopping
with her
anytime she wants.
