did the ocean know you would dance constellations so soon? |
~for Philomene Long
did the ocean know
oh, bohemian rose petal, Philomene
you would meet Orion
so soon,
that you and he
would dance the
cosmos starfire away
swimming in beds of
constellations and calliope
constructed of ether for you
over venice canals and new moon?
did the ocean know
oh, bohemian rose petal, you
the depth of your haunting
upon steps of these chambers
juxtapose heavy as wet quill
jasper and unakite
black tourmaline pirouettes?
did the ocean know my adoration
oh, bohemian rose petal, Philomene
decades before
i would read your words
eons before
weight and light of them
upon my sodalite voice
might cause familiar echo to
like a circle of ants climb my spine
eat me whole?
so much leveled to the ground
ferris wheel on the pier
crumbling into silent sea.
such a raven of
cacophony i wish to recite,
oh, bohemian rose petal, you
i shall wait for your reply
in cloud cover and marine layer
toe into water
ripples
reflection.
