A Poem for Laurie |
He can sketch a
photograph-like
portrait within a
couple of minutes;
he can replicate
your dreams in
paint and inks;
he can make a
home where most
could not and he
has survived such
darkness and
such loneliness that
I love him more so,
he has known
mystery and magic
and drugs and has
known art since birth,
he lives it, he lives it
without even thinking
about it;
he is my life-long
friend and we are
brothers and beyond the
chains of brotherhood,
we sing songs that our
parents didn't know
or never dared to teach
us and we sing these
songs loud,
very loudly.
