Saltwater Invocation |
The Crusader States will outlive us all
Like the rumor
That Marilyn Monroe died a virgin
Some part of us
Hopes as much
When every day whole families are taken by tornadoes,
Call it an act of god
The divine comedy
All our mothers
Too big to fail,
Die pure
Die big
If you could oblige my desire
For slow motion streamers and confetti falling through the air
Like New Year’s,
Like a game show
I’ll be honest for a moment
It’s no monsoon but it will have to do
We’re all prehistoric here, in temperament if not in dreams
Cold blooded behemoths with too much time to burn
But do you have to keep reminding me?
One day we’ll all slink back into the ocean
Or didn’t you know?
I can shed these skins like evening wear when I return to warmer currents
