The beautiful people return with the beautiful dog food.
Naturally, says the commentator. Beautiful people, beautiful dog food.
But, I protest, don't dogs only care about love?
Frantic, I turn to the camera, look deep into it,
to where what I say, the shape of me, is broken apart
for the wire and then the air.
Hours after viewers on the East Coast have seen the beautiful people
returning with beautiful dog food,
heard the commentator's and my thoughts on the subject,
those on the West Coast will tune in,
watch the beautiful people with the beautiful dog food,
look at the commentator, assured and in his assumptions confirmed,
and me, bags under my eyes, on my forehead the sheen of obvious sweat.
