IN THE DANDELIONS’ SHOW
( or a reverie with Bob Dylan singing a new song)
This tune is like spring,
like you at a glance
in a stance after stance.
One or two chords,
maybe it had already begun
before we knew,
with the lady
of the blues in the blue,
a tune, a rune, one or two...
Maybe life is just persistence,
me looking for you, at a seance,
trusting a happenstance,
or the beloved dog
you had left me in advance
who keeps asking for a biscuit,
her gaze like a lance,
it goes on, this flow,
from grass to straw,
life, step after step
and stance after stance
like the path’s mood
which can be all you know,
life in spring pursuing
its own strewing, paw after paw,
come rain or come shine..
or, with fluttering clues,
come wind,
my soul a loose string,
too still or just
too much on the go..
and I can’t but sing,
in the dandelions’ show.
