I watch from the corner of my
eye
as the sleeveless boy shows
young muscles rippling
like wind in the dessert
remembering
a lifetime ago
when the other one was
beautiful
legs tight and strong
he would chase
me
I would fly
as he twirled me
around
and around
with his strength
and I would hold his
arms
hungry for his perfection
my own body is
changing
so I do not
judge
it is summer and the
magnolia have gone away
and the autumn will bring
an aging bloom
to the beautiful boy
