Studying a Picture Hidden Behind Some Things in the Kitchen |
In a yellow outdoor room with an open air window
a table full of pumpkins taking in the sun
the setting must be barn for the yellow is siding
and some old cornhusks are hanging in the corner
as if to climb the walls
the ceiling is a reflection of pumpkins
outside an airbrushed field of grass appears to be uniform
in its absence of detail
meets the wavy tree line at the root and then the forest takes over
can pick out a few backbones holding up branches
overhead a muted blue is strips of clouds and air like the
inclusion of a watermark
at the west end of the field an indeterminate figure in a red pickup
is content sitting under a puffed up tree
its position made stronger by a shadow
its skinny trunk planted in the truck bed
