They came here – all from foreign land,
These visionaries who would found
An industry yet to rebound,
Appealing to the world’s demand.
How many times the silver screen,
Has lifted us from toil and strife;
Rich casts – enhancing very life,
Regardless of how often seen.
Endearing names like Goldwyn, Mayer,
Each Warner, Zanuck, Cohn, and Zukor;
Caused Huston, Ford, Curtiz, Hawks, Cukor,
Creative gems from every player.
Hard-driven men – they did pursue,
Imaginary worlds of dreams;
To bring about the many gleams,
Enforcing that their aim was true.
Compositely, they left behind,
The field of motion picture arts;
So capturing our very hearts,
Our feelings – fueling ill-lit mind.
