Pebbles skate across the pond, rippling
black glass reflecting only the moon, and
your eyes, darkened by the light’s
scurrying departure into secret places
I’ve swallowed the last blood red rays
of sunset, and keep my mouth shut
lest they escape to follow their brethren
hoping love beams through my eyes
Our pond ripples meet and mingle, melding
into one, skating across the surface
chasing the light toward eternity,
I kiss your neck
opening my mouth, your arms lift me up
Dawn explodes in our souls
