Again, From Out of Nowhere

Yesterday,
I could not keep count of the varied green,
nor of the known and unknown bird calls,
milkweed, sweet pea tempting me off the path,
patches of purple clover, and butterflies by my side,
silent as any companions could be.
No people,
            not one,
                carrying on about their souls.
Just,
one deep blue delphinium beyond my reach.
