Sometimes You Are Free

Sometimes you will find yourself

no longer
on your hands and knees,
no longer
with just mud on your face.

No, you are on your stomach.
Mud had seeped into every crevice.

You are rolling under the wire now.

arms splayed to the drizzling sky.
face down and blind.

People you don't even know
are watching you.

At times like these
you are free

to laugh
