courants d'air

if they had the feeling they induce

why there's no telling

what might have become of it "they looked around and underneath the bed

she said

she thought she lost it at the Astor"

but that wasn't likely

no not at all

the view at the Astor is dim

was dim at the time

and very strangely quiet

then the golfers came and went up to their fifth-floor rooms with brass

plates on their security noggins

reading I am Firth of Forth and so on

one carried up or down spiral staircases at the major studios hot tea

                and cakes biscuits or sweets

for the gates hid a terrible reality
